Stand Firm in the Pulpit: Preaching
H.B. Charles
What Expository Preaching is Not

Concepts are made clearer when we examine their boundaries. Clarity brings insight and understanding, which are necessities of growth and development. Thus, if we want to grow in our ability to exposit God’s Word we need to understand as clearly as possible what it truly means to do so. Look at expository teaching by understanding what it is not.

Albert Mohler
Applying God’s Word to Today’s World

A well-known Christian thinker once said that a pastor ought to do theology with the Bible in one hand and the newspaper in the other. His point was two-fold: for Christians, especially teachers of the Bible, God’s Word should both inform how we see the world, and it should lead us to engage with it. Perhaps no one today is more adept in this skill than Dr. Albert Mohler, Jr., President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and host of two programs, “The Briefing,” a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview; and “Thinking in Public,” a series of conversations with the days thinking leaders.

Stand Firm in Dependence: Prayer
Daniel Henderson

How to Hear from God: the Role of Scripture in Prayer

Most people struggle in their prayer lives. Some struggle with unfocused prayers. For others it’s the problem of rote prayers. For others it’s praying without faith that God will answer. Others struggle to even begin praying at all! Many believers cannot remember the last time they experienced a specific answer to prayer. Each of these common problems with prayer are in large part solved when believers learn to pray Scripture—to quote God’s words back to Him!

Stand Firm in the Spirit: Formation
Robert Naughton
Putting On Christ

Many Christians know the imperatives of Scripture, what they’re commanded to do. Yet most, if they’re honest, sense a tremendous gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Understanding how God has ordained to work this out with us is vital to cooperating with Him so that we can grow in Christlikeness. Robert Naughton is Director of Ministry Development for Strategic Renewal and an MDiv. in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care.

Engaging Your Community for the Gospel

As Christians we can often feel marginalized for our views on God and life. People at times accuse us of being anti-intellectual and discriminatory, and we become hesitant to share our faith with others often feeling ill-equipped to answer any questions they may have. Yet God still powerfully saves. He still opens doors into the lives of people around us so we can share the hope we have in Christ and at times watch God save people and be blessed as He uses us in the process. Join us as we take a look at how you can personally impact your community for the gospel as well as how communally you do so with others in your congregation.

Stand Firm in Conviction: Leadership
Tim Challies
Character Counts, Especially in Christian Leadership

No quality matters more in life and ministry than character—who a person is and what they are made of will determine what they will automatically do in any given situation. This truth holds even greater weight for Christian leaders as the stakes could not be higher, for they are eternal. Tim Challies, the number one Christian blogger in the world, will unpack a Biblical vision of the calling and character of a Christian leader and provide insight into how such character is developed.

Crawford Loritts
Cultivating a Multi-Ethnic Expression of the Gospel

Only the gospel holds the power to unify the nations, which is why, if the body of Christ on the earth is going to glorify the reconciling power of God to the fullest, it must learn to be intentional about making this reality visible in its gatherings. In other words, we must learn to cultivate a multi-cultural expression of the gospel in the local church. Dr. Crawford Loritts has a wealth of experience, wisdom, and insight to share on this subject.
